So I just got done fighting with an install of Cent-OS 5 on a new M2N-SLI motherboard. It seemed to boot fine but then hung (hangs) at the line:
io scheduler cfg registered
After some fruit-less searching, I finally found a quick comment that it seems to be a USB issue. Disabling the onboard USB controller in the BIOS seems to have completely resolved the issue. I also saw:
warning: many lost ticks. Your time source seems to be instable or some driver is hogging interup
It may be that the USB controller on this board is not fully supported. I found some posts which seemed to indicate that this may have been fixed in >2.6.20 kernels but I'm not sure of this.
If someone has any information they'd like to add to this, please let me know.
