Here we go again. Round 52 in the all out war of Hollywood and the recording industry versus civil liberties. This one chaired by Senator Hollings. As a Democrat I am very critical of the Republican support of corporate interests over individual freedoms. The support of hollywood and the record industries by the Democratic party once again demonstrates how all sides of Washington are firmly in the corporate pocket.

Senator:
The Consumer Broadband and Digital Television Promotion Act (CBDTPA) and all legislation like it is a bad choice. I call on you to oppose it.
Shame on Hollings for authoring it, and shame on Senators Stevens, Inouye, Breaux, Nelson, and Feinstein for standing with him. As a long time member of the Democratic Party, I find myself very unhappy that it is taking this pro-corporation stand that I usually attribute to the GOP.
Who do you represent? The corporations or the citizens? Your vote on this will clearly show where you stand. This bill further erodes the civil liberties and rights that you've done so much to damage with misguided laws like the DMCA, and back in 1998 the "Sonny Bono Copyright Term Extension Act".
Crippling computers and other electronics will only stifle innovation, encourage people to buy systems manufactured in other countries, ensure monopoly control of property by certain corporations, and in the long run hurt the US.
Stop the madness. Vote no on the CBDTPA.
Sincerely,
Gray Watson
