[This is going to be a quick one until I have time to go back and fill it in.]
I wake up this morning and read the Boston Glob to find out that the Republicans pretty much ruled the day yesterday. Depressing. Although I voted for a Republican Governor, I find chills up my spine when I think about Bush at the head of a unified Congress on a misguided "mandate".
I think it is time for one of two things:
I am thinking that the second may be the only viable solution. Not only would the Democratic party resist significant change but the Democratic "brand" would have connotations that would be hard to overcome.
I think it would be interesting to poll people. First it would be interesting to guage them on the left/right on both the social and fiscal scales. Then it would be interesting to see if a framework for a party philosophy could be created that a large number of people would identify with.
It's going to be hard hard fight but I think it can be done.
